Guild News (reported by Sherri Schultz, Guild Founder)

The NWIEG is now an official nonprofit. The steering committee will become the formalized nonprofit board.

Activities for the coming year have all been planned by the steering committee/board, but the board would like to double the number of its members from 5 to 10 to spread out the responsibilities.

Currently the NWIEG has 240 members with an 85% retention rate.

Guild Education Committee (reported by Kyra Freestar, Guild Education Committee Chair)

The NWIEG is developing some in-depth education for independent editors based on the results of a member survey from earlier in the year.

                Adobe InDesign

Website Committee (reported by Beth Chapple, Guild Website Committee Chair)

The NWIEG website is 10 years old and needs revision. The website committee is currently looking for designers and is putting together a short list.

The NWIEG Redesign Project charter mission statement, briefly:

        1. To update the website to current standards in look, content, architecture

        2. To improve the website’s navigation

        3. To continue to further the mission of the NWIEG toward educating clients

One big goal for the website redesign is to help members find more work. Potential features include an “Ask an editor” advisory column.
