Date, Time & Location
Saturday, November 8, 2025
9:30 a.m. – 5:15 p.m. | Doors open at 8:30 a.m.
Lynnwood Event Center (and online!)
3711 196th St SW, Lynnwood WA 98036

Getting There

Just north of Seattle (an approximately 20–30 min. drive depending on traffic), the Lynnwood Event Center offers 400 complimentary parking spaces for guests, with additional overflow parking. Please do not park in spaces marked “No Convention Center Parking” as these spaces are reserved for retail tenants and guests. We kindly ask that guests do not park at Schoener Square (Lamps Plus/Fed Ex). You’re encouraged to connect with other Guild members and attendees to plan for carpooling!

Light Rail & Local Transportation

Ride the light rail to and from the Lynnwood City Center Station, located less than a mile from the Lynnwood Event Center. The light rail connects Lynnwood directly to downtown Seattle, SeaTac Airport, and beyond, with trains running every 8–10 minutes. From the light rail station, you can walk, take a quick rideshare, or hop on a local bus to reach the Lynnwood Event Center in just minutes. Use Sound Transit or Sound RideGuide to help plan your journey!

Note: If you were planning to take the Link light rail to Lynnwood station, note that trains will NOT run this Saturday between Westlake and U District stations until 2 p.m. For those of you who live (or otherwise will be coming from) south of the U District, allow extra time for the Sound Transit shuttle service or make alternate travel plans. Read more on Sound Transit’s website.

Zip Shuttle

You can also book a ride to the Lynnwood Event Center using Zip Shuttle, Community Transit’s on-demand shared ride service offering trips from the Lynnwood City Center Station for $2.50 or less per ride! Just download the app, choose your pickup location (we waited outside the Ride Store, adjacent to the light rail station), and book a ride once you arrive at (or are approaching) the Lynnwood City Center Station. You can pay using your credit card, Orca card, or cash (exact change required).

Light Rail + walking directions (0.8 miles)

  • After disembarking from the Lynnwood City Center Station, follow the light rail tracks northeast toward 44th Avenue W.

  • Cross 44th Avenue W onto Alderwood Mall Boulevard. La Quinta Inn and Courtyard by Marriott will be on your right.

  • Walk north on Alderwood Mall Boulevard until you reach 40th Avenue W. Turn left.

  •  Proceed on 40th Avenue W until you reach 196th Street SW. Cross the crosswalk and turn right.

Walk approximately one block (toward I-5) until you see the Lynnwood Event Center (3711 196th Street SW) on your left.

Local hotels

Book with the Northwest Editors Guild room block at the Hilton Garden Inn, just across the street from the Lynnwood Event Center. Guests can also call in reservations at (425) 320-5905, reserving rooms under the Northwest Editors Guild block, although we can no longer guarantee availability. If the Hilton is full, La Quinta Inn by Wyndham Lynnwood and The Courtyard by Marriott (near the Lynnwood light rail station) are also within walking distance of the Lynnwood Event Center.

Planning Your Day

The conference schedule is up on our website, so you can begin selecting the sessions you’d like to attend. Learn more about the speakers and sessions with the full presentation descriptions here. Can’t decide between all these great options? It’s not too late to buy six months of access to the recordings! If you already purchased access to the recordings, keep an eye out on your email for the link to all the recordings, which will be sent out after the conference.

Notes & Networking

Don’t forget to bring your favorite pen, a fresh notebook, or your laptop to take notes during the Red Pencil Conference! Each attendee will get a program with a schedule and map of the venue, but handouts will vary depending on the session. We’ll also be doing speed networking from 2:15 to 3:15 p.m., so make sure to bring your business cards too!

Food & Beverage

We are providing lunch (including vegetarian options) as a part of your ticket, as well as water and coffee service throughout the day. Please bring any additional snacks you may need.

Book Swap

Third Place Books will be on site selling editing-related books and books written by our presenters. We’ll also have a free book swap! Bring books related to editing, writing, grammar, freelancing, and small business ownership that you’re ready to pass along, and perhaps you’ll find some books to pick up and take home. The book swap will be located at the Northwest Editors Guild information table.
