2023 Red Pencil Conference Scholarship Application

The Northwest Editors Guild is pleased to offer four scholarships to cover the full cost of admission to the upcoming Red Pencil conference, with the aim of encouraging attendance by editors who

• would find the registration fee a hardship;

• are part of a disadvantaged community; or

• are new to editing and building a business.

Depending on donations received, we may be able to award additional scholarships. We are not able to cover the cost of transportation, lodging, or other conference-related expenses.

Applications will be accepted through February 15, 2023, and scholarships will be announced March 15, 2023.

We encourage all interested editors to fill out this application, even if you’ve received a scholarship to a past Red Pencil conference. Personal information will be withheld during the review process to promote equanimity, and names of scholarship recipients will be kept anonymous.

As we will not be able to provide scholarships to all applicants, one alternative you may want to consider for attending the conference at a reduced price is volunteering. Day-of volunteers are needed for a variety of tasks immediately before, during, and after the conference and are asked to donate four hours of their time in exchange for a half-price registration. Information on day-of-conference volunteer opportunities will be available when registration opens.
