Editors Helping Editors
Join us for our "Editors Helping Editors" meeting. Bring your problems, big and small, as well as your thinking caps. We'll work together to solve event-goers quandaries and questions, which could range from common questions like how to find clients in a particular field (say academic editing) to more situation-specific issues like why a particular macro isn't working in Word. The only topic that's off limits is setting rates, as that can be seen as price-fixing. However, we can talk about rate-adjacent topics, such as tools and data we use when setting rates, what counts as a tax write-off, and how/when to raise rates.
This event is open to all editors, and will not be recorded.

Editing with Disability/Illness/Neurodivergence (Morning)
This coffee chat centers people who work as editors and are living with disability and/or chronic illness. It is open to everyone. The idea was partly inspired by an active peer group currently hosted by the Society of Authors.
Group agreements that will be open for discussion at the start of the chat:
* Disclosure (of illness/disability/etc.) is welcome. Disclosure is not required.
* There are no requirements. We participate (or not) in the ways that work for us.
* We take care of ourselves. Stretch, eat, drink, take a break, etc.
* We can’t be articulate all the time. We give each other the benefit of the doubt and ask questions.
* We keep confidentiality: Learning goes, stories stay.
Discussion topics for this online chat are currently open. If you have a conversation topic you would like to host (for this meeting or at a different day/time), please contact me! I also have a list of topics to bring to the meeting in case they are needed.

Editing with Disability/Illness/Neurodivergence (Afternoon)
Topics for the online chat this Monday are currently open. If you have a conversation topic you would like to host (for this meeting or at a different day/time), please contact me! I also have a list of topics to bring to the meeting in case they are needed.

May Member Meeting with Rosilynn Yoon
You know that your Guild profile, LinkedIn profile, and website are key tools in your digital marketing plan. They are a primary way of presenting your brand. But if everyone has a website and profile, how do we differentiate ours from everyone else’s? Should you use the same content on both your website and your LinkedIn profile? How can you use your website/profiles to attract “your perfect client”? Is SEO important anymore?
This month’s Member Meeting speaker is Rosilynn Yoon, a digital marketing freelancer, entrepreneur, and new business coach. After a corporate career in startups and advertising agencies, she took the leap into entrepreneurship—and never looked back. Since then, she’s built a successful marketing agency while discovering her true passion: helping others build their dream business, and life. Her most recent venture is launching the Nine to Five to Freelance Academy, where she helps aspiring entrepreneurs start and grow a sustainable service-based business.
Rosilynn presented “The Editor’s Edge” marketing workshop last year. Members can find that presentation in the Guild’s website (Activities > Meeting Videos & Notes > +2025 > June 16, 2025). This year she will be discussing ways to optimize your Guild and LinkedIn profiles and website. This will be followed later this year by a pen-to-paper session where you can work with her and your editing colleagues to evaluate your profiles and website, update your bio, determine what copy to add (or remove), and enhance your brand.
To get started, look yourself up on the Guild website by clicking the Member Directory button, and then come to the May 11 Member Meeting with your questions and ideas.
This event is free to attend and open to all editors, guests, and/or members of related fields. It will be recorded.

Canva for Editors with Sohini Ghose
As editors, we’re trained to shape words—not visuals—yet the way we present our businesses still shapes how we’re perceived. The good news? You can build a strong, trustworthy brand—without design overwhelm—by using Canva with intention.
In this practical workshop, you’ll learn to use Canva as a strategic business tool—not simply to create attractive graphics, but to strengthen your brand, streamline your workflow, and elevate your client experience. We’ll begin with the essentials: templates, branding fundamentals, and polished client-facing documents. From there, we’ll move into brand kits, layout control, collaboration features, Canva’s AI tools, and accessibility best practices.
You’ll leave with practical systems, a clearer brand direction, and the confidence to use Canva thoughtfully, so your business materials feel cohesive, professional, and aligned with your editorial identity. When your visuals are consistent and purposeful, you spend less time second-guessing and more time focusing on what you do best—editing.
Sohini Ghose (she/her) is an editor with more than fifteen years of international publishing experience. She has worked with Big Five and independent publishers, university presses, and both debut and bestselling authors, holding in-house roles at Cambridge University Press, Seagull Books, Macmillan, and now HarperCollins (Harlequin). She has also run her own global editorial business since 2015 and is a published author with books from Macmillan India and Rupa Publications.
A digital collage artist whose work was first exhibited in New York City in 2021, Sohini's interest in visual storytelling informs her approach to branding and design for editors, and she offers one-on-one Canva consultations tailored for editors seeking to strengthen their visual brand and business presence.
Committed to supporting the next generation of editors, Sohini helped establish and teach editing at the Seagull School of Publishing, continues to mentor emerging professionals, and serves on the board of the Editors Tea Club.
Note: We will extend the discussion from this meeting into our March Editors Helping Editors event on March 12. Bring your questions about branding your own editing business and how you can use Canva to your advantage.(You are not required to attend the Member Meeting to attend EHE or vice versa. We will talk about Canva at both events!)
This event is free to attend and open to all editors, guests, and/or members of related fields. It will be recorded.
